TRAVEL TO TURKMENISTAN

Tour Details

For fans of horse riding – organization of horse tours along the Karakum desert (for 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 days) with overnight staying at the traditional Turkmen villages where remained life of ancient Turkmens. Supper (national Turkmen cuisine – plov, shorba in a fire, chorek, baked in tamdyr (oven from arable (clay and straw)
Itinerary include the tour around Akhal region with visiting of cathedral mosque in Geok-depe named after Saparmurat-Khaji, also visiting of the biggest mosque in central Asia in the settlement Kipchak. Then visiting of horse farm where the magnificent breeds of Akhaltekin horses are presented, folk shows with horse riders.

Itinerary:

Day 1, Arrival in Ashgabat
Meeting at the International airport of Turkmenistan. Transfer to the hotel.
Ashgabat city sightseeing tour. Visiting the city parks and squares, Ertogrul Gazi mosque, Monument of Independence, Arch of Neutrality. Continue the tour: visiting of the Path of health” on the Kopetdag mountain.Visiting of “Gulistan” market (so called Russian bazaar), “AltynAsyr” shopping center near the Russian bazaar - with numerous Turkmen textile shops, good Turkmen carpet store, several national jewelry stores. Return to the hotel. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2, Ashgabat - Geokdepe
In the morning we set off to a horse farm in Gokdepe, which is 45 km away from Ashgabat. We stay in the basecamp exploring local area and getting ourselves familiar with horses, area and first desert safety precautions, which we MUST follow.

Day 3, Geokdepe – Garagum desert
Considering the hot climate both in your own as well as in the interest of the horses we leave the camp in the early morning to reach our next destination before noon. This will give us a good 4/5 hours riding time and time for rest. We ride north to the Garagum desert. Lunch in open area. Continue our trip to the Tummekli village. Dinner. Overnight at the shepherd's.

Day 4, Garagum desert - Geokdepe
Ride back to Geokdepe. Lunch. Continue our riding tour to the horse farm. After arriving at the national yurts we will have dinner. Taste a national dish Tamdyrlama (ship meat). Overnight in a national yurt at the horse farm.

Day 5, Geokdepe – Baharly – Geokdepe - Ashgabat
Drive to Ashgabat visiting en route the Gokdepe mosque and Kov-ata underground lake in Baharly. En route to Ashgabat you can visit one of the biggest mosque in Central Asia Saparmyrat Hajy Mosque. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6, Ashgabat – departure
Transfer to the airport for international departure. Seeing off the tourists. End of program

Day Tour To Darvaza

Darvaza is one of the places that should be on the must-visit list of every serious explorer who likes to visit Earth’s most breath-taking sites. You will have long stayed in awe after experiencing the viciousness of the fire within the gorge of the burning crater. Day Tour To Nokhur

Visually, Nohur is unlike any other site found in Turkmenistan. Rich in history, nature and tribal custom, Nohur is set 1,100 m above the Karakum Desert in the cool mountain valleys of southwestern Turkmenistan. The Nohur people have maintained a highly homogeneous society based upon ancestral rights, and tribal custom. Varied images in the stunning silk embroideries sewn by local Nohur women, indicating their particular tribe, make Nohur silk renowned throughout the country. The Nohur felts are also thought to be exclusive to this region. They differ from customary Turkmen felts with their original designs and Zoroastrian ornaments symbolising the worship of fire, and the cult of fertility. Constructing their homes from the stones found around the area, the Nohur people have decorated these simple homes with handcrafted wooden columns and capitals unique only to this clan of people. Accented by two small flowing streams, the flora and fauna of this region is exceptional. There are mountain goats (umga and marhur), Urial mountain sheep, wolves, foxes, jackals, porcupines, and even snow leopards in these mountain-ridges. See this ancient way of life uniquely preserved and rarely seen. – Nohur is reached by a road heading south into the mountains from the village of Archman. A 4x4 is required, though the route can become all but impassable after heavy rains. Since 2004, visits to the Nohur area have required a special border zone permit, to be applied for when you request your letter of invitation for Turkmenistan. The border checkpoint lies 12 km south of Archman. Nohur itself is another 10 km further on, and up, at an altitude of around 1000 m.

AKHAL - MIRACLE OF NATURE, 6 DAYS TOUR

This itinerary is for active tourists. Magnificent Geok-dere canyons are at tourists’ service where they can do a fascinating tour on Akhaltekin Horses which were called “Heavenly” by Geradot. The water has a constant temperature +30, +37C. Chemical analysis has shown that water contains a complex combination of chemical elements – 30 have been found to date. Then the route will acquaint the tourists with real life of Turkmen village – Yerbent.
